Summary of Position
Develop, coordinate and deliverdistrict-ledprofessional development and related services toK-8PK-12teachers, principals and other school and district staffincluding ESPs. Build capacity with school leadership teams and teachers to ensure academic growthand enrichment for all students.

  1. Minnesota Teaching License, Elementary and/or Secondary
  2. Experience in curriculum design and delivery, formative assessment and professional development
  3. Experience inacademic programming/resource development/teaching strategies
  4. At least five years' experience of effective instruction teaching a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting.
  5. Experience with curriculum development, analysis and delivery using effective formative assessment strategies
  6. Experience leading effective professional development that changes teacher practice and increases student learning outcomes.
  7. Demonstrated effective leadership and coaching skills in working with adults
  8. Experience organizing school-level professional development
  9. Experience with school teams (either grade level or department)
  10. Experience with school improvement plans and processes preferred
  11. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the District's four priorities: Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Literacy, Equity and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is strongly preferred
  12. Secondary (grades 6-12) experience is preferred

  6. Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work with a wide range of constituents including students, teachers, administrators and community members.
  8. Ability to facilitate a variety of professional development experiences for staff using exemplary pedagogy and technology.
  9. Ability to work creatively and collaboratively with teams.
  10. Capacity to exhibit systems thinking and manage projects of widely varying complexity.

Position Functions, Duties, Responsibilities:
  1. Support siteprofessional developmentleads and their administrators to develop yearly siteProfessional Developmentplans, assist schools (principals, leads and teachers) with program options
  2. Collaborate with site and district leaders to implement, sustain and improvesite-based PD.
  3. Represent MPS, the Davis Center in particular, at local and state meetings and
  4. Coach and collaborate withschool and district personneland classroom teachers to improve the differentiation of curriculum and instruction for diverse learners.
  5. Engage in issues of race regarding the opportunity and achievement gap between and among groups of students.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Curriculum Design and Delivery
  1. Collaborate with all content areas to include enrichment and qualitative differentiation for diverse high ability learners in the development of curriculum guides for grades PK-12.
  2. SupportPD chairs, Teaching and & Learning staff in the development of effective, standards-based units of inquiry and their coaching of teachers.
  3. Screen and select necessary supplemental PD materials and resources to ensure adult learner outcomes are met.

Professional Development
  1. Design and lead professional development for teachers, specialists, ESPsand building leaders in relevant talent development programming/strategies including qualitatively differentiated curriculum and instruction, assessment/identification, and social-emotional support.
  2. Facilitate communication and professional development forall academic staff

  1. Support the use a comprehensive assessment system to inform instruction in all disciplines.
  2. Implement accountability systems and practices providing schools with data to inform decision-making and school improvement efforts for increased academic achievement.

Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
