Quality early childhood education is much more than just childcare. It is an academically and developmentally focused experience that provides students with early literacy and numeracy skills, as well as other academic experiences, so they come to school ready to learn. Expanding Early Childhood Education is a focus of the Jeffco Public Schools vision and aligned strategic plan. It is important to increase the quality and quantity of academically and developmentally focused opportunities for Pre-K students so that those students will enter kindergarten ready and will sustain academic proficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Provide leadership and supervision under the direction of the Preschool Director, for all aspects of the Preschool Program including educational, financial and human resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as listed below. Other duties may be assigned by the school principal, Early Childhood Coordinators and or Early Childhood Administrator.

-Assist Preschool Director in maintaining all aspects of the district Preschool Program including: full implementation of Tools of the Mind curriculum and Work Sampling Assessment; model and facilitate daily implementation of lesson plans, components of the curriculum and observation/documentation techniques; facilitate ongoing assessment of student progress and actual input of data; assist director with and support teachers with yearly evaluations; facilitate planning meetings; assist director in maintaining quality partnerships with parents.

-Maintain and forward accurate time sheets weekly to Preschool Office.

-Maintain and update student (including student enrollment data) and staff files.

-Enroll and drop/transfer students and provide required documentation to Preschool Office.

-Provide information on preschool program to potential families, provide site tours as needed.

-Answer telephones and provide accurate information to families/staff.

-Complete purchase orders, receive shipments, record, file, and provide document to Preschool Office.

-Maintain monthly expenditure report with approval of Preschool Director

-Prepare monthly petty cash reconciliation with approval of Preschool Director

-Verify and process bank deposits (check for accuracy).

-Prepare correspondence including monthly newsletters, bulletins, notices, and reports with approval of Preschool Director

-Track staff development.

-Maintain positive and effective communication with Technician at the Early Childhood Office.

-Assume responsibilities of director position in the absence of the director.

-Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE Minimum two years teaching experience working in a preschool program. Administrative experience preferred.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Minimum requirement: Director Certification through the Colorado Department of Human Services. Current First Aid and CPR or complete within 60 days of start date. Current physical must be provided within 30 days of hire date.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
