Summary: Acts as a project manager or administers and coordinates a wide variety of curricular and instructional tasks. Interfaces with principals, staff and community to support and ensure the efficient and effective planning and implementation of the Magnet Schools Program in each magnet school.

Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
  • Assists the Director of Magnet Programs & School Redesign to ensure effective planning, project management and implementation of the magnet program at each school.
  • Coordinates specialized professional development training opportunities for magnet school principals, coordinators and teachers.
  • Acts as a liaison between curriculum specialists, magnet school principals, and other school district departments to provide assistance in curriculum planning.
  • Monitors magnet program implementation through school site visits and data analysis to ensure high-quality instructional programs, identify needs and plan effective staff development activities.
  • Works with principals and staff to ensure high quality instructional programs.
  • Assists school staff in acquiring resources, identifying successful practices and innovative strategies, and obtaining other assistance from the central office, community agencies, local colleges and universities.
  • Assists principals in documenting innovative strategies being used and in interpreting evaluation data to improve their program.
  • Advises the Director of Magnet School Programs on budget development.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Licensing / Certification Requirements:

Possession of or ability to obtain administrative or curriculum and supervision licensure

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Common Core and North Carolina Essential State Standards.
  • Knowledge of current research and practices in Curriculum K-12.
  • Knowledge of project management and marketing.
  • Knowledge of current research, innovations, and practices regarding magnet program themes and implementation of a variety of magnet programs.
  • Knowledge of and skills in instructional leadership with experience providing professional development opportunities for principals and teachers.
  • Supervisory experience working with teachers or staff.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects and see projects through to completion.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate programs, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to design teacher training programs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, analyze information and make recommendations.

Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
