Essential Functions and Objectives:

- The ESSA Compliance Specialist is the subject matter expert of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and ensures DPS Human Resources is in compliance with ESSA regulations. Reports DPS and Charter school employee information, including teacher qualifications and licensure, annually to the Colorado Department of Education.

- Prepare annual Human Resources reporting to the Colorado Department of Education in compliance with ESSA regulations. Audit employee education, qualifications and licensure status. Research employment records and correct data errors.

- Partner with school leaders and Human Resources. Monitor, update, validate and communicate teacher education, qualification and licensure status. Create action plans to ensure that every teacher meets minimum qualifications.

- Monitor the CDE and ESSA for reporting and regulation changes. Create communication plans for stakeholders, as needed. Partner with the Department of Technology to create or modify existing reports. Perform system testing associated with program or policy changes.

- Participate on the project management team responsible for the annual reporting to the Colorado Department of Education. Meet annual deadlines.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

- A minimum of two (2) years of related work experience with federal and state regulations, preferably "ESSA" regulations.

- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred

- Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Effective time management and organizational skills

- The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance

- Work collaboratively with others on a team

- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment

Education Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human resources, Education, Finance or other related field.
