JOB TITLE : Student Information Reporting Analyst

REPORTS TO : Supervisor, Student Information Systems Management

DEFINITION : Serves as the system administrator for various student information systems. Responsible for acquiring data from various sources, developing reports, creating data files and ensuring the quality and accuracy of data. Provides high level technical support to student information system users. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
  • Serve as system administrator for the Student Information System and School Scheduling System. Assists with systems administrator duties for the Special Education system.
  • Assists and collaborates on student information projects. Creates custom forms and reports within third party products.
  • Develops automated solutions to meet users' requirements. Conducts in-depth analysis of user systems, operations, procedures, and requests.
  • Produces and submits state report files. Produces ad hoc reports for student information.
  • Provides tier 2 support for student information systems.
  • Provides quality assurance on data inputs, outputs, and files. Coordinates with staff to correct data issues.
  • Collaborates with development team on automation reports.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, and Experience :
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer information systems management, computer science, or related field.
  • Two years related experience in reporting and analyzing data.
  • Experience working with k-12 or higher education student information systems preferred.
Note: Other combination of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of data reporting and analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state education laws and processes.
  • Experience with Systems Development Lifecycles (SDLC).
  • Knowledge in development of customizations within third party products.
  • Skill in writing SQL queries.
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Skill in analyzing end user automation needs and requests.
  • Skill in assessing the feasibility of automation solutions.
  • Skill in troubleshooting program and production problems.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at writing queries and reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Persons appointed to this classification are designated as Essential-As-Needed Personnel and are required to work when schools and/or offices are closed during adverse weather conditions or any other emergency when contacted and directed to do so.

FLSA : Exempt

SALARY: Grade 05 on the BCPS OPE 12 Month payscale $66,314 - $102,522.

Eligible for the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
