The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has anticipated vacancy(s) for an Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Applicants must have valid NYS School Business Leader or School Business Administrator certification. Our district serves a very large population of diverse students. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NYS School Business Administrator (SBA) or School Business Leader Certification (SBL)

  • Demonstrated success in managing a large budget.

  • Experienced financial leader with three to five or more years' experience working in an urban school district.

  • Experience with school aid formulas and reports

Job Goal: Responsible for ensuring that financial management functions and activities operate in a legal and efficient manner to provide maximum support and contribution to the instructional program of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, and providing direction and leadership for Finance Services.

Special Knowledge & Skills :
  1. Financial management skills required; experience with risk management investments and budget development experience.
  2. Experience in the negotiation of vendor contracts; experience in assisting with labor negotiations.
  3. Excellent leadership and communication skills required; ethical approach to business required.
  4. Experience in the oversight of grants and funded programs.
  5. Experience with SED transportation compliance and regulations.

TheNewburgh Enlarged City School district is located at \"The Crossroads ofthe Northeast,\" an area on the west bank of the Hudson River 60 milesnorth of New York City and 80 miles south of Albany.

Our district central office and the Board of Education are located at 124 GrandStreet, Newburgh, NY 12550.

The school district serves students from four neighboring municipalities: theCity of Newburgh, the Town of Newburgh, New Windsor, and a small portion ofCornwall. Six elementary schools (including a Pre-K center in one building),one K-8 school, one middle school, and the high school are in the City ofNewburgh. The remaining schools are spread throughout the other municipalities.

The district currently consists of seven K-5 elementary schools, two K-8schools, two middle schools (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12 over3 campuses)

In the 2015-2016 school year, the district had a total enrollment of 10,831 students in grades K-12. Ethnic breakdown of our students is as follows (again for the '15-'16 school year):

Average class size is 23 students and 14% of students were English Language Learners.
