Lake Forest Community High School is seeking a Technical Director for the Fall Play.

Description: The director supervises students during regular meetings and organizes approved events throughout the show season in order to meet the needs of the production. The director creates, facilitates, and manages students through meetings, events, activities and fundraisers.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a variety of documents including attendance records for technical crew meetings and events, activity account budget, and field trip forms (if needed)Holds technical crew meetings on a regular basisRequests room space in advance for rehearsals and build events as well as makes travel arrangements in advance when necessaryPromotes and publicizes technical crew involvement via posters, fliers, announcements, or social mediaCommunicates and hold students accountable to a standard of expected behaviorDetermines the role of technical crew studentsEstablishes student technical crew long-range and short-term goals Plans accordingly for crew socials and other activities related to the crewMaintains positive relationships with students, supports our diverse populations, and interacts with students and adults in a respectful mannerFacilitates student planning for crew meetings, events, and activitiesOversees the correct and responsible use of play fundsProvides supervision and safety of students, materials, equipment and facilitiesMaintains and updates the play web pageDesigns and implements a building plan for the fall play setCollaborates with the fall play director to bring the shared vision to lifeCreates and follows a show calendar in order to ensure all set design needs are metOversees the student tech crew with the technical direction of the showProvides instruction and technical support to the students using safe, industry-standard proceduresDesigns lighting with student tech crew members and teaches them how to run lights during the showDesigns sound and manages microphones with student tech crew members while teaching them how to run sound during the showManages show budget and communicates expenditures with supervisorCollects information from directors and students in order to create the play program, publicity announcements, and postersPerforms other duties as assigned by administrator

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent - preferredWorking knowledge of sound equipment, light equipment, and various special effectsAbility to:
    • understand and follow basic oral and written instructionsmaintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupilscommunicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous mannerdeal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner
    Enforces school regulations and policies in a professional mannerAddress concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner
