The Baltimore City Public Schools' Blueprint for Success lays out a plan for how we will move towards our goal of building a generation of young people with the skills, knowledge, and understanding to succeed in college, careers, and their community. One of the three pillars of the Blueprint is Leadership. City Schools believes, when staff members have opportunities to grow as professionals and leaders, they inspire, create, and participate in high-performing learning communities that promote equity and excellence for all students. Key levers to facilitate this vision include targeted professional learning and mentoring for new teachers, the use of data from a range of sources to inform continuous improvement of practice, and the creation of a culture of learning for all members of the school community, where adults seek out new information and ideas and become models of lifelong learning for students.

For the 2019-2020 school year, City Schools seeks veteran and/or retired teachers to serve as mentors for new teachers who are conditionally certified teachers and working in targeted Title I Schools. Mentors provide non-evaluative support for the development of new teachers. Mentors will facilitate consistent inquiry cycles with teachers to support their instructional practices and the achievement of their students.
