The primary goal of the Math Interventionist is to assist teachers in improving knowledge, skill, and practice of teaching Mathematics for the purposes of improving and enhancing student achievement in that content area. The Math Interventionist will support the development of the school's Response to Intervention (RtI) model, including implementation of core curriculum with differentiation, as well as any supplemental interventions provided to students. Support will include professional development, modeling / team-teaching, facilitation of study groups, data analysis, progress monitoring and student placement. The Interventionish will also be available to provide individual or small group instruction to Math students in the school, and will work with the principal and leadership team to ensure that core curriculum, differentiation, supplemental interventions, and progress monitoring are effectively and consistently implemented at their school site.

Salary Schedule For Teachers Hired On Or After July 1, 2010 (starting at $47, 858 per year)

Endorsements: Mathematics Coach PK-12, Middle Level Mathematics 6-9, Mathematics 7-12

Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of successful teaching and/or coaching elementary Math with evidence of using data to support student achievement.

- Successful Math coaching experience, is preferred.

- Candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of developmental reading processes, instruction, assessment and data analysis.

- Experience leading professional development sessions, study groups and team meetings is preferred.

- Must possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of the principles and practices associated with differentiated instruction.

- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondences related to work.

- Candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of technology including Microsoft office applications.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Lead Math-centered professional development at the school-level to ensure teacher knowledge of academic standards, core curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention programs and Promise Ready strategies, including but not limited to facilitation of professional learning communities.

2. Assist schools in developing an effective RtI model.

3. Provide demonstrations and/or co-teaching of instruction and intervention strategies to classroom teachers using a gradual release model.

4. Assist and serve on leadership teams within the school/district with access to lesson plans and master schedules.

5. In conjunction with the principal, facilitate regularly scheduled Data Team meetings with the school leadership team.

6. Appropriately utilize assessment, and train other 6-12 Teachers to use mathematics assessments, both formative and summative, to inform instruction.

7. Lead and/or attend grade level meetings with the purpose of analyzing data and matching instruction to the needs of students with the intent to build capacity at the building level and to ensure that appropriate differentiation and intervention strategies are in place for students with varying needs

8. Train and assist staff in examining student work in support of student achievement.

9. Establish and maintain professional rapport with teachers and principal.

10. Provide differentiated support for teachers based on need.

11. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills for interacting and motivating teachers.

12. Stay current in the areas of content, curriculum design and research-based instructional theory and practices.

13. Serve as a resource for identification of instructional strategies, materials, and interventions to address diverse learning needs.

14. Provide supportive and constructive feedback with non-evaluative observation protocols to promote effective instructional practices and implementation of district-approved strategies.

15. Provide small group or individualized instruction in Math to assist teachers of record with meeting the needs of all learners

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature. Employee will be required to operate computer system for data entry, and have the ability to complete necessary paperwork. This position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks.
