Job Description
Job Title: Educational Services Director Department: HGLCS
Title of Immediate Supervisor: Residential Services Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide direction and guidance to Educational Programs connected to the New Directions / Wyndham Lawn program. Act as a resource person to the Residential Services Director and CEO in all areas pertaining to the field of education.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Develop and implement curriculum that will meet the needs of students, requirements of the New York State Education Department, and be consistent with the philosophy of New Directions Youth & Family Services, Inc.
2. Develop and seek funding for improved and new programs.
3. Determine proper class placement for students in cooperation with the School Psychologist and faculty.
4. Oversee student discipline and cooperate with Social Work staff in implementing.
5. Make recommendations to the Residential Services Director pertaining to the employment or dismissal of education service personnel.
6. Supervise and provide in-service training for all education service personnel.
7. Complete and submit data requested by the New York State Education Department.
8. Recruit students so that a full population is maintained.
9. Maintain student records in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Education Department.
10. Communicate and coordinate with public school personnel regarding day students placed in the Campus School and New Directions residents placed in public school. Maintain title of "Principal" for community communication and understanding.
11. Make recommendations to the Residential Services Director and the Chief Financial Officer regarding budget allocations.
12. Approve requests for expenditures from the school budget.
13. Write and administer federal and state grants to all education service programs.
14. Establish an annual school calendar mirroring the Lockport calendar and consistent with New York State Education Department requirements.
15. Prepare job descriptions for all school-related personnel.
16. Promote harmony between the educational program and other program areas.
17. Present the philosophy and program of the education service department to staff members, board members and community organizations.
18. Be responsible for the appearance of various education service sites.
19. Provide supervision to education service personnel.
20. Maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certification provided by the agency.
21. Attend all mandatory in-service training. Attends other training and in-services as needed to maintain a level of expertise in the field.
22. All other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
SKILL, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education and/or Professional Qualifications/Skills
' Appropriate School Administrator certification required, (School Administrator Supervisor/SAS) and/or School District Administrator (SDA).
' Experience in school administration, teaching and/or working with special education children at the secondary school level (Grades 6-12) is desirable.

8. Must comply with Agency safety standards and be responsible for own actions and conduct concerning safety and healthy working conditions.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: School Counselor, all certificated Teachers, select Teacher's Aides, Campus School Nurse, Office Manager, One-on-One Aide, Psychologist, Resource Counselor Supervisor and Campus School Social Workers.
