Waukesha North is looking for an energetic, student centered, collaborative, risk-taking, team player. We need a teacher who will problem solve and can work well with others within the Special Education Dept, and within the Reg. Edu. content areas.

The goal of this position is to engage students in grades 9-12 in the broader learning experiences in meeting the needs of IEP goals. Candidates should possess the skills to create a personalized learning environment that helps students grow their literacy and numeracy skills to support college and career readiness. This involves planning quality instruction, executing purposeful lessons, and evaluating student learning outcomes to inform future instructional decisions. Candidates should also have a passion for modeling positive contributions to the school culture through high expectations. Experience with students who have significant delays would be an asset to our team and those who have experience or a willingness to co-teach in Math.

This full time position requires the Special Education teacher to:

- Have a deep understanding of RTI principles

- Assess students as part of the Students Services Team consistent with district procedures and processes.

- Write and maintain IEPs using a collaborative approach

- Adapt/modify instruction based on student need

- Knowledge of personalizing learning for students including academic differentiation and behavioral strategies

- Value and create strong relationships as a vehicle to improve student achievement

- Use data in decision making / to inform instruction

- Use technology as an instructional and productivity tool

- Be collaborative in practice, working with other staff, families and community providers on behalf of students

- Align instruction and assessment with curricular learning targets

- Facilitate instruction in an engaging, safe classroom environment.

- Strong knowledge, skills, or experience in working with students identified with autism, cognitive disabilities, emotional /behavioral disabilities, specific learning disabilities.
