BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education (GED) is required.
  • Hold applicable industry certifications or any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Certificate/Associate's Degree in an Information Technology related field.
  • Previous technical work experience in Information Technology to include end user deskside and remote support.
  • Knowledge of the operation of computers, networking systems, Microsoft operating systems and technologies, methods, hardware, software, and practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain adequate records of all work performed.
  • Ability to use hand tools, testing equipment, and other technology materials.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems relating to the operation of networked computer hardware and software including Microsoft operating systems, iOS, and basic concepts of Mac OS.
  • Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

This is a highly skilled position that involves working in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security management of technology resources within the School Division. This position provides support to users in the use of software and technology hardware and is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Workstation Support. To perform this job successfully, it is necessary to collaborate on an ongoing basis with the school Instructional Technology Coach (ITC).

This professional partnership is critical to the success of technology implementation and integration. At all times, it is essential that employees in this position do what is best for the students of PWCS to help with their access and usage of technology within the Responsible Use Policy.

7.5 hours/day

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:


  • Work collaboratively with all stake holders in Providing A World-Class Education .

  • Serve as the first level of technology support between the office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and end users at assigned location and redirect all issues that cannot be resolved at site to the appropriate ITS group for assistance.

  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, and printers within assigned location(s).

  • Provide training, tools, and support in new and emerging technologies.

  • Ensure workstations at assigned locations(s) meet current Workstation Checklist standards.

  • Triage and diagnose workstation, laptop, and printing problems relating to the network, hardware, and/or software systems.

  • Assist with diagnostics of network and server issues at the request of members of ITS.

  • Maintain an inventory list of technology equipment using the Helpdesk software database or other agreed upon system and verify the information is consistent and current.

  • Perform data collection and analysis deemed necessary by ITS Supervisors or other administrative personnel.

  • Collaborate with the school based ITC on all technology concerns.

  • Prepare outmoded/non-supported technology equipment for disposal.

  • Assist in the software approval process.

  • Install and/or update approved Workstation based software.

  • Assist at other schools or locations as requested by ITS.

  • Work collaboratively with all building personnel at assigned location(s) to ensure their technology needs are met within the guidelines of the Responsible Use Policy.

  • Assist assigned departments/schools in the development and maintenance of a technology plan.

  • Attend scheduled ITS meetings.

  • Participate in online and in person trainings pertinent to current position.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.



SALARY:
Hiring Range: $54,468 - $76,766/year ($29.05 - $40.94/hour)

DAYS: 250

FULL TIME/PART TIME: Full Time
