    TITLE: TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST
    SALARY RANGE: $22.56 - $25.18 hourly

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

    This employee is responsible for developing and maintaining the computerized route infrastructure and support the development of optimal routing solutions and schedules for eligible students within Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS). This position will follow establish guidelines set by CPS District policies and procedures, Federal, State, and Local regulations by working closely with District's stakeholders and vendors on providing safe efficient modes of transportation and customer service for students.

    WHO MAY COMPETE ON THE EXAM: All classified, permanent employees with the Cincinnati Public Schools who meet the qualifications listed below as of July 26, 2019. All required experience must be with the Cincinnati Public. IT IS THE POLICY OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION THAT TEMPORARY TRANSFER AND/OR PROMOTION TIME WILL NOT BE COUNTED FOR EXAMINATION ELIGIBILITY PURPOSES (CIVIL SERVICE RULE 10, SECTION 2 - 8/3/89).

    REQUIRED SERVICE RATING: Last 2 out of 3 ratings must be satisfactory

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Must be a Transportation Router and have passed their initial probationary period OR Must be a classified permanent Cincinnati Federation of Office Professionals (CFOP) employee or an Auxiliary Clerk who has completed their probationary period and works fifty percent or more with a satisfactory appraisal plus 45 quarter or 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, which includes successful course work in business, computer science, transportation and/or related areas.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    EXAMPLES OF REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

    Knowledge of:
    city streets, highways and expressways; locations of public and private schools in Cincinnati.
    Greater Cincinnati geographical region, all school locations, current district routes (yellow bus &
    public transit), or the ability to develop a comprehensive understanding within a reasonable
    amount of time as defined by Director.
    CPS Board and Transportation Department Policies and Procedure.
    basic math.
    English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
    Absence Management System, Business Plus, Google Drive, MS Office Suite, PowerSchool and
    Registration Gateway.
    Union contracts terms and conditions and their implications

    Skill to:
    use of Microsoft Office suite of Windows software including WORD, and EXCEL proficiently.
    use organizational solutions.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    This is a sensitive classification, therefore applicants for appointments must pass a security clearance, which includes a check of employment references and criminal records. Indoor environments; exposure to computer screens. Must have a valid Driver License. Employees who choose or is asked to drive a CPS vehicle for work-related community business must receive written annual authorization to do so.

    SUBJECTS AND WEIGHTS OF TEST SECTIONS:
    The selection process is worth 100% of the exam grade and consists of a written exam. The passing score will be determined after the examination by the Civil Service Examiner together with the Secretary. Determination of the passing score will be based on the job analysis, analysis of examination results, consultation with subject matter experts or other professional methods. Veteran's points will be added to passing scores.

    PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION GENERAL INFORMATION

    1. ELIGIBILITY: Civil Service promotional exams are open to classified permanent employees only, who meet the eligibility and qualification requirements stated in the announcement. Unclassified and certificated employees are not eligible to participate in these exams.
    2. FILING APPLICATIONS: Must be submitted through http://www.cps-k12.org, click on Apply for a job with CPS and Online Application System; Internal Postings; Clerical and Office Personnel. Applications must be received no later than stated deadline.
    3. TRANSCRIPTS: ( IF NEEDED, NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS). PLEASE NOTE: Copies of unofficial versions or internet printouts of transcripts are NOT acceptable.
    4. ALTERNATE TEST DATE, TIME, LOCATION OR NECESSARY ASSISTANCE IN TAKING THE EXAM: Contact the CSPO in advance of the test date on 363-0143.
    5. PASSING SCORE: The passing score will be determined after the examination by the exam analyst, based on the job analysis, exam result analysis, consultation with subject matter expert, and/or other professional methods.
    6. SENIORITY CREDIT: A passing score on the written, oral and/or practical test must be achieved before credits for seniority will be given. A credit of one (1) point for completion of the first four years of creditable service and 0.6 points for completion of each of the next ten (10) years of such service will be added to the total exam grade. A maximum of seven (7) points for seniority for 14 years of creditable service can be added. To receive credit, service must have been continuous and with the City of Cincinnati, the Board, and/or the University of Cincinnati (including General/University Hospital) service up to July 1, 1977, when the University went under State control.
