The Grants Program Specialist assists with monitoring and support of the Georgia Pre-K Program and Tennessee Voluntary Pre-K grants, including implementation, compliance, and acting as a liaison between the grantors and Learning Care Group. This role provides expertise on assessment and curriculum, ensures teachers meet state-mandated training requirements, and delivers informational updates to identify what is effective and what are opportunities for improvement. The Specialist helps schools understand grant and LCG processes to meet all budget, administrative, and deadline requirements.
The successful candidate will be a critical resource in LCG schools that operate a GA Pre-K and TN VPK programs, coaching and mentoring teachers and staff on program expectations and guideline adherence, while actively problem-solving and making decisions necessary to ensure program success. This position is home based in the Atlanta, Georgia area, with some travel to Memphis, Tennessee required. Approximately 75% of the Grants Program Specialist's time will be spent supporting GA Pre-K, and 25% supporting TN VPK.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist with registering teachers and monitoring attendance requirements for grantors' annual mandatory trainings
  • Help programs raise their instructional quality rates and ensure classrooms meet Pre-K requirements by providing expertise on grant requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers to complete child assessments and observations, and identify developmentally appropriate activities for individualized lesson plans
  • Perform monthly audits on staff files, teacher files, and child files as required in the grant
  • Review teacher and student data to ensure Project Director submits quarterly rosters timely and accurately
  • Assist with ordering supplies and materials to ensure all schools have robust learning environments
  • Assist with monitoring changes in teacher credentials and when teachers need to update their profiles with the grantor
  • Partner with the school/field team and Grant Manager to use site visit reports to develop action plans and timelines to help schools maintain or improve program operations
  • Provide regular, effective communication to the Project Director and Funding Manager to identify and resolve potential risks to the grant and fulfill budget/spending and tracking requirements
  • Visit GA schools regularly to observe program and ensure compliance with GA Pre-K Grant Program guidelines
  • Travel to TN schools periodically to observe program and ensure compliance with TN VPK Grant Program guidelines
  • Build and maintain partnerships with DMs and school management to offer the best support for grant programs and action plans to meet highest quality in program and compliance
  • Provide regular, effective communication to the Grant Manager to support program implementation and improvement
  • Apply an understanding of financial aspects of the grant to be compliant with budget/spending and tracking requirements
  • Regular, in-person attendance at designated company sites is required to ensure necessary teamwork, personal interaction, and supervision
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; grant management, early childhood, business, management focus preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in early childcare program management/grant implementation or management/accreditation management preferred.
