Our Center for Technology, Essex is seeking full-time long-term substitute Social Studies teacher to cover for two teacher absences during the 2019-20 school year. The first position is expected to begin September 9th and continue for approximately one month. The second position is expected to being early November and continue through mid February. The individual selected would continue to serve as a substitute in the school even if there is a gap between positions.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Holds a valid VT Educator license with a Social Studies endorsement (2-15).
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in the content area and pedagogy of social studies.
- Ability to implement a focus of literacy across the content areas, and expertise in utilizing technology to support instruction.
- Knowledge and/or experience using standards based learning strategies and reporting of student progress, differentiated instruction to support each student, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery.
- Commitment to development and implementation of Personalized Learning Plans.
- Commitment to Proficiency Based Learning.
- Commitment to ensure equitable access to learning for all students.
- Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students. Understanding of the importance of social emotional learning to the success of our students.
- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
- The ability to effectively engage students.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the student population being served and how demographic variables impact student achievement, and effectively uses this knowledge to effectively design and delivery instruction.
- Effective integrates 21st century skills into the learning environment.

Positions pays $260/day. Selected candidate would also qualify for medical insurance for the duration of the assignment (or cash-in-lieu of insurance if they already have acceptable comparable medical insurance coverage).
