Summary/Objective
The HVAC technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the district goals and objectives.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent plus vocational or technical training after high school, or equivalent experience, resulting in journeyman level expertise.Driver's license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to operate District vehicles. Employee must maintain a driving record which meets the standards of the District insurance policy.Physical ability to perform job responsibilities.Passage of medical evaluation. (Post-offer, pre-employment)

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of relevant experience in related trade.Experience as a maintenance and repair technician in the public sector or industry.

Essential Functions
  1. Discuss heating or cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctions.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and perform scheduled maintenance of equipment.Repair or service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants.Study blueprints, design specifications, or manufacturers' recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components.Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work area.Recommend, develop, or perform preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, or changing filters.Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Order required parts and supplies.

Skills
  1. Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme weather conditions (to include heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind), moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary/Pay Rate
