The Math Content Lead will work with 12 schools, with a focus on our 7 elementary schools, and will focus on the following:
  • Develop an overall vision and action plan for improving Math instruction in Opportunity Zone schools
  • Implement an aggressive plan to increase math instructional levels of students.
  • Coordinate and lead school-based Math coaches to ensure quality and impactful coaching is in place
  • Collaborate closely with the Opportunity Zone 6-12 Math coach
  • Lead the collection and analysis of data to track improvement and needs
  • Coordinate teacher and principal professional development
  • Coordinate new teacher induction and ongoing support
  • Work closely with principals to develop school-based PD plans to support effective Math teaching and learning
  • Work closely with the Opportunity Zone leadership team to ensure alignment and consistent instructional programs.


Knowledge/Education/Experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field; Master's degree strongly preferred or as required by state guidelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in math instruction
  • Minimum of five (5) years previous experience in school administration or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Additional Job Information

Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of district curriculum to ensure alignment between TN State standards, assessments (summative, interim and formative), curricular resources, and professional learning for teachers and leaders.
?Complete assigned duties that align with the strategic direction, mission, and vision of HCDE
?Possess a deep conceptual understanding of math content that goes beyond the teaching skill
?Collaborate with leaders to design, implement, and evaluate teacher professional development. Design and conduct ongoing and sustained professional development throughout the year
?Plan, prepare and demonstrate model lessons using a variety of presentation methods
?Provide planning feedback to teachers and assist in refining instructional practices and developing aligned assessments
?Use multiple forms of data to inform daily instructional decisions
?Implement research based strategies that assist with reading and writing learning goals

Other responsibilities:
?Coach teachers on effective instructional strategies and high-leverage practices
?Maintain records of school progress and strategic actions implemented to promote growth
?Communicate progress toward academic development goals with school leaders and central office
?Track academic data with fidelity in order to development interventions and monitor their impact
?Participate in school, district, and specific network professional development activities
