POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the school principal, the Crisis Intervention Resource Teacher will provide direct support to students and teachers to resolve behavioral conflicts in assigned middle school. The Crisis Intervention Resource Teacher will provide technical assistance and professional development for staff members on evidence-based behavioral intervention strategies and positive behavioral management techniques.

This is a PGCEA - Table A, 10-Month Position

Salary Range: $48,498 - $108,538

Detailed Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Providing individual and group intervention for students in crisis;
  • Serves as a resource to all school personnel for increasing the staff's knowledge and sensitivity in responding effectively to middle or high school students in crisis;
  • Consulting with administrators, teachers and parents to implement effective behavior management strategies;
  • Assisting in communicating intent, nature and results of programs to appropriate groups through written reports, oral presentations etc.;
  • Providing conflict resolution intervention;
  • Assists school teams in the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans development, as appropriate; and
  • Providing assistance and support in designing, implementing and monitoring behavior management plans.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to assess needs and develop appropriate intervention or initial treatment strategies;
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and reassuring in crisis situations and to intervene appropriately;
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in evaluating and accessing available resources and work effectively with community resources;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; and
  • Technical experience working with spreadsheets and databases.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an educational field; experience in a relevant field with professional, clinical experience in the provision of crisis prevention, crisis intervention, and crisis case management, or a combination of education, training, and experience indicating the possession of essential knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Holds or is eligible for a Standard Professional Certificate in a related field.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
