The Director of Blended Services manages all blended learning sites and staff under the guidance of the Head of School and Academic Administrators and provides services that meet students' needs while also ensuring compliance with LAVCA policy and procedure.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The below State ments are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.   • Manages the blended learning sites and staff; provides direction, develops and implements processes, and enforces work site rules governing staff as evidenced by:
    • Creating and maintaining a positive classroom environment;
    • Applying classroom management techniques as required;
    • Conferring with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems at the blended learning site;
  • Ensures that the blended learning sites are meeting the needs of students while complying with LAVCA policy and procedures and performs in-take function helping orient newly enrolled students to programs and services.
    • Collaborating with the teacher and parents in tracking student progress, making sure to share insights gained from working with the students;
    • Attending parent/teacher/student conferences and providing assistance as necessary to discuss academic progress;
  • Participates in marketing, retention, and local outreach school-wide and/or local initiatives, such as attending and/or hosting events; participates in training events
  • Participates and provides routine feedback to all stakeholders including LDOE as it relates to charter school renewal terms.
  • establishment of in-person centers in the parishes with large concentrations of enrolled students and assist with scheduling transportation for requesting students to these centers.
  • Create weekly trackers to monitor progress and effectiveness of blended learning to share with stakeholders and leadership.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises 9 - 12 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning. Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree AND
  • Five (5) years of educational experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in blended sites and mentoring new hires

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to promote and facilitate a positive school environment by making students accountable in following all school and classroom rules and policies
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities
  • High degree of reliability
  • Ability to pass required background check
  • Travel to all blended site locations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or other related field of study
  • Previous experience teaching and/or working with children

  • Ability to type, sort through pages/papers, or otherwise work with fingers (including thumb) and palm frequently each day.
  • Ability to see and read PC screens.
  • Ability to answer/route telephone calls, and understand what parents, students, and staff are saying in normal conversation.
