ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Hutchinson Elementary is the small gem of the Green Mountain area. Nestled at the base of the Colorado foothills, Hutch (as it is known) is truly a community school that seeks to meet the needs of each student and his/her family. We offer a general education setting for students in grades K-5 as well as a center-based program for students with significant emotional needs. Hutch offers a rigorous standards-based curriculum coupled with innovative ideas such as additional recess time, comprehensive social-emotional learning, small class sizes, play-based homework, flexible seating, and two STEM labs where students explore, create, and invent. We are committed to providing authentic learning opportunities for all of our students as aligned to the four Green Mountain Area Academy Academies (Business and Global Studies/Health and Human Services/Arts,Humanities, and Performing Arts/STEM). Hutchinson is also a restorative school, utilizing the elements of restorative practices to support students ability to understand others? perspectives and repair harm.

Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $40,989 - $57,654

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing students in an elementary grades K-6. Creates lesson plans, instructs students on core subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional preparedness based on the District's Core Curriculum. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.

Participate in ongoing training sessions.

Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.

Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.

Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

Utilize District curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Prepare and distribute parent communications.

Observe and evaluate student's performance.

Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Teacher must hold Colorado Teaching License or authorization. Must meet content-area qualifications, which could include the appropriate license endorsement, degree in the content area, Colorado State Board of Education-approved content exam, or 36 credit hours as determined by the district.
