ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Warren Tech is the premier Career and Technical Education (CTE) center for Jefferson County Public Schools. An educational and technological leader, Warren Tech integrates academics in career and technical education, preparing students for both college and career. Warren Tech students are engaged and committed to their programs, which is evidenced by a 93% attendance rate, 96% graduation rate, and a 97% program completion rate. Virtually all programs offer academic credit in 11th or 12th grade math, science, and English, which counts toward their graduation. AP coursework is also offered by some programs. Another hallmark of Warren Tech's success is the college credit awarded to our students each year. Last year, our students earned nearly 13,000 Red Rocks Community College credits. A large number of students attend colleges and universities after finishing Warren Tech, and some students have even earned an Associate's degree in a Warren Tech program before they finish high school. Warren Tech students also earn industry certifications through their coursework and participate in client work, internships, and job shadows with industry partners. RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Lead the development and implementation of marketing strategy and execution for Warren Tech, increasing awareness of Warren Tech and CTE. Will be a key contributor to Warren Tech by assisting in writing, and supporting marketing and communications initiatives. Responsible for proactively developing and delivering marketing strategy and execution of communication plans, resources and tools; and coordinating communication activities for internal and external stakeholders; increasing awareness of school brand and programs. Provide strategic advice and counsel on communication strategies to district and school leadership. Responsible for the clear, timely and accurate dissemination of information. Develop and promote good community relations among various community and school clientele, and local media to include organizing and facilitating community engagement processes related to school programs and marketing projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Lead the development and implementation of communications plans and marketing materials to support enrollment objectives with a focus on student recruitment and retention.

Conceptualize, develop and implement communication/marketing plans and tactics for key school marketing and community engagement projects and initiatives.

Provide marketing and communications support to administration and school staff, including professional consultation related to branding, marketing collateral, student recruitment and retention strategies; and website design and development (working in coordination with district webmaster), social media, media relations; event-based marketing, direct mail, public speaking, creating presentations, and stakeholder engagement.

Serve as project manager for developing and producing informational materials regarding school marketing and community engagement programs such as newsletters, press releases, brochures, fact sheets, annual reports, presentations, information guides, program pathways, websites, social media plans, Powerpoint and Animoto templates, identity sets, flyer templates, event materials, school maps, signage, badges, invitations, promotional items, newsletter templates, building graphics, graphic standards guide, etc. as required.

Take and/or coordinate the production of photographs and videos for use in school marketing and community engagement publications and on the website.

Communicate complex ideas, programs, systems and processes in easy-to-understand language through a wide variety of communication vehicles including social media, to support enrollment objectives with a focus on student recruitment and retention.

Support other priorities and projects of Warren Tech, including writing for administrators, staff members, and publications (both print and online). Writing may include parent communications and school/district newsletter articles.

EXPERIENCE 5+ years of comprehensive experience in strategic communications, marketing, media relations and/or internal communications.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or English.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Colorado Driver's License required for hire.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Self-motivated strategic thinker with effective independent judgment skills. Demonstrated mastery of public relations techniques and strategies, including the development of communication and public relations plans. Ability to communicate complex ideas, programs, systems and processes in easy-to-understand language. Computer operating skills using application software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe CS. Social media skills including account maintenance, posting, curation, analysis, and reporting. Exceptional relationship-building, strategic planning, facilitation and project-management skills necessary to organize a variety of stakeholders around common goals. Strong creative skills to develop messaging and visual concepts that will inspire stakeholders to action. Experience in stakeholder engagement and outreach to diverse communities. Strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as experience with tailoring messaging to a variety of audiences, including families for whom English is not their first language. Event planning experience a plus. Basic graphic design and website development experience. Knowledge of Associated Press style of writing. Creativity and outgoing personality required. Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines. Operating knowledge of and experience with computers and computer processing skills. Familiarity with K-12 education and Jeffco Schools a plus.

DECISION MAKING Requires independent judgment, strategic planning, discretion and an understanding of the impact a decision may have on public opinion, address concerns raised by the public and the media, and represent Warren Tech and Jeffco Public Schools soundly and professionally. Decision making requires collaboration with Warren Tech administration, staff, Communication Services team, district leadership, business leaders/industry partners, and civic and community organizations. Must work within accepted standards and apply judgment when standards do not exist. Errors could potentially result in additional cost or embarrassment to the school or district.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with classified staff within/outside department to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, maintain relationships, recommend policy, and negotiate controversial matters; with professional staff within/outside department and administrative leadership team to discuss routine internal matters, obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, maintain relationships, recommend policy, negotiate controversial matters, set critical policy, and instruct/counsel; with general public, community members to obtain/furnish information, interpret policy, and maintain relationships. Weekly contact with department personnel to obtain/furnish information, maintain relationships, and recommend policy; and with media, news, press, and television to obtain/furnish information, maintain relationships, and negotiate controversial matters.

SPAN OF CONTROL This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Work conveys positive image of the daily work by school staff in education and Jeffco Public Schools students. Staff development videos and other programs aid school and non-school staff in learning new skills and techniques.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK Work is assigned by the principal and administration and is also self-directed. Requires use of judgment, independent thinking and make sound decisions quickly with little time or input from others. Must have strong understanding of school and district culture, local community, and the media;A and be able to analyze the impact of his/her decisions on the organization's reputation.
