QUALIFICATIONS:

Administrative (Principal) Certificate

Three or more years of teaching experience

Demonstrated excellence in teaching practice (Planning and Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instructional Delivery, Professionalism)

Adept at establishing an effective and respectful learning environment

Adept at using differentiated instructional strategies with experience in addressing the needs of diverse student populations such as: economically disadvantaged, special needs and English Language Learners

Ability to work collaboratively with district leaders

Experience in working with culturally diverse students and staff

Experience with providing professional development, coaching and/or mentoring support to staff.

Proficiency in using technology to communicate and manage records

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of District management, School Board, Federal/State/Local agencies, families and community

Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of others

Strong written and oral communications skills using both formal and informal styles as appropriate

Interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills to effectively facilitate training, and efficiently manage resources and budgets

Commitment to maintain confidentiality

Willingness to work a flexible schedule extended daily after-school hours to provide support for students, staff and represent SDoL

REPORTS TO: Director of Schools

SUPERVISES: Staff members designated by the Board or the Superintendent

JOB GOAL: Duty and responsibility to guide and direct the total operation of the Prison Educational Program, The Youth Intervention Center (YIC), Buehrle Alternative AEDY program, Futures Academy, and the Phoenix Academy Programs, and Cyber Program (assist the Cyber Program Lead Teacher and Counselor on Special Assignment) in all areas, including business management, leadership and direction of learning programs and curriculum within the framework of the State Educational Code and District policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintain and carry out adopted policies of the Board and of the District administration.

Direct the development and administration of the operating budgets of the Prison, Cyber and YIC.

Oversee the selection, placement, development and evaluation of all personnel under the Superintendent or his/her designee.

Direct the in-service education of and communication of all Prison, Cyber and YIC staff, including faculty meetings and notification of directives from the District (Superintendent, etc.). Further, to monitor the professional development of staff employed by CHG, Inc as it relates to Buehrle and Phoenix.

Act as a liaison for communication between Prison, Cyber, YIC, Camelot Programs and community, staff, students, and business partnerships.

Direct the planning for operation of instruction in all aspects including scheduling, registration and approval of the master schedule for Prison, Cyber and YIC programs in accordance with Board policy.

Ensure that there is a climate/atmosphere conducive to learning.

Provide for school leadership and input in the area of teaching and learning for all supervised programs.

Develop school plans to address technology-related access and equity issues in all supervised programs.

Develop school-based staff development capacity to conduct on-site training in the areas of teaching and learning and technology.

Oversee the preparation of required administrative reports; see that all programs have the necessary materials to carry out the prescribed educational programs.

Monitor initiating investigations where and when needed:

Student insurance

Accident reports

Vandalism reports

Other investigations as required by policy or law

Establish appropriate methods of communication with all constituents.

Develop monitoring tools for walkthroughs of all programs.

Provide for timely gathering and analysis of information to monitor compliance of CHG, Inc. contract.

Assist the District when possible by interpreting program concerns and needs, serving on District committees, attending various meetings, etc.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Serve as the primary liaison person between the District, school, and all stakeholders.

Provide for control of books, supplies, and equipment.

Delegate preparation of a data bases involving attendance and student performance reporting.

Coordinate planning and programs that rely on District support services.

Provide for end of year roll over and transition in all programs.

Sensory Abilities:

Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screens.

Auditory acuity to be able to use telephones.

Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.

School settings, including offices, classrooms, hallways, cafeteria and school grounds, as well as neighborhood/community.

Ability to travel to other locations for training and meetings.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Year Salary to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel outlined in the District's Performance Evaluation and Compensation Plan for School and District Leaders.
