Essential Functions and Objectives:

Manages the counselors under and activities of the Colorado Counseling Corp Grant and the GEAR UP Grant. Oversees all staffing activities and grant objectives.

- Coordinates and participates in required professional development opportunities for both GEAR UP and CCCG.

- Coordinates services from partner agencies that provide educational services to DPS students as specified in the DPS GEAR UP and CCC grant programs.

- Monitors progress of counseling services and grant program implementation at 15 secondary schools.

- Maintains effective communications with counselors and administrators.

- Helps Counselors to inform, explain, interpret, and guide students and parent/guardians on PSAT, ACT, SAT, CSAP and other assessment tests.

- Coordinates related counseling activities with magnet programs, alternative schools, summer schools, and various programs from third-party organizations, as required or requested.

- Coordinates student and parent/guardian opportunities for educational planning and transition assistance, including linking scholastic achievement, interests, and aptitude to future educational goals and career plans.

- Works with community based organizations to coordinate college entrance activities for all GEAR UP and CCC grant schools.

- Plans, implements, and evaluates strategies to continuously assess GEAR UP and CCC counseling programs, including an annual needs assessment of all curriculum and programs in accordance grant program requirements.

- Maintains current, state-of-the-art knowledge of research and trends in school counseling.

- Coordinate College visits for every GEAR UP student twice a year.

- Coordinate ordering and spending of grant funds as laid out in grant applications.

- Communicate and coordinate with students and parents (oral and written) about needs assessments, evening events, and other opportunities as they arise.

- Monitor student progress at grant sites.

- Compile data for and conduct statistical analysis for designated programs and report information in requested format.

- Collaborate and provide guidance to counselors based on ASCA National Model, ASCA ethics and best practices.

- Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Current license in School Counseling from the Colorado Department of Education.

- Three (3) or more of years experience in counseling, preferably in an educational environment.

- Strong communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.

- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

- Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.

- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with site staff and diverse student population.

- Ability to monitor and supervise assigned student activity for sustained periods of time to anticipate and maintain safe environment.

- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Education Requirements:

- Master's degree in education or counseling.
