BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

This is entry-level work in custodial maintenance. The employee is learning work operations and procedures and use of tools and equipment in assigned work area. Attends classes to supplement on-the-job training. The work is performed under the close supervision of a higher level custodial employee or manager. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical arts; in high precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

DIMENSIONS:

Work schedules are typically 2-10:00 p.m. or 3-11:00 p.m. during the school year.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

Include the following. Assists higher level custodial employees in the performance of maintenance duties applicable to the school or office building to which assigned. Performs routine maintenance tasks alone as directed, such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting; collecting and disposing of refuse; cleaning and replenishing supplies. Removes ice and snow from walkways, entrance ways, and steps. Cuts grass with push mower and otherwise maintain grounds. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY:
$11.93/hour
