TItle: Instructional Paraprofessional

Position Summary:


Provides assistance with classroom organization, management, and presentation/development of classroom instruction; Works under general supervision of the instructional staff

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists the teacher in the preparation of educational materials for studentsWorks individually with students and/or in small groups to help reinforce learning objectivesAssists with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, and grading quizzes as assignedParticipates in lunchroom, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus dutiesAssists with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards and other learning centers areas for instructionParticipates in required additional training related to the Dual Immersion Model if applicablePerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education:


  • High School Diploma or GED requiredMust pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment with a minimum score of 250 within 1 year from Date of HireIn lieu of GACE, two (2) years (60 semester hours) of college coursework above the remedial level with a grade of "C" or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution is acceptable

Experience:
  • 0 - 1 year experience required

Certification/Licensure:
  • Must be able to obtain Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certificate within 1 year from Date of Hire.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • If working as a Paraprofessional in the Dual Immersion program, should exhibit proficiency in spoken and written language of instructionAbility to understand and follow directions.Excellent communication skills both written and verbalGood organizational skills.Classroom experience and/or proven ability to work with children preferred

Salary Information:
Salary Range for 2017-2018

  • $19,923 - $23,513

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule A-184, Professional Scale, Step 1 - Step 9
