About the Role
The Director of Talent Specialists will manage a talent specialist team focused on onboarding, supporting, and exiting District employees efficiently, effectively, and productively. The Director of Talent Specialists will work in close partnership with the Director of Recruitment and Selection and the Director of Talent Partners. S/he will report directly to the Deputy Chief in the Office of Talent.
About the Team
The Talent Support Team aims to support District leaders in their role as talent manager to recruit, select, hire, onboard, develop, evaluate, promote, and retain high-quality staff members. The Talent Support Team also supports employees throughout their experience with the District. The team functions with a matrix model, in which individuals report to their functional area leader (either a Recruitment & Selection, Talent Specialist, or Talent Partner Director) and share responsibility for the talent needs of a selected network of schools and/or central offices with others outside of their areas of functional expertise. Individuals poised for success within this team are comfortable with ambiguity, are creative and flexible problem-solvers, and assume great responsibility in ensuring extraordinary results for their employees.
Essential Functions
  • Manage the Talent Specialist Team consisting of approximately 12 employees whose role is similar to that of an HR Specialist
  • Support the product launch that will allow for clear, effective transmission of information from the Applicant Tracking System to the Human Resources Information System
  • Build a substantive, effective dashboard system that can drive the team's work
  • Recruit, hire and develop and effective team of Talent Specialists that will ensure new hires are in place and ready to perform in a timely fashion
  • Manage Talent Specialists and ensure they work effectively in a matrixed team environment to meet their designated networks' hiring and talent goals by coordinating with the Director of Recruitment and Selection and the Director of Talent Partners.
  • Build, monitor, and improve the systems, processes, and procedures that will drive the work of both the Talent Specialist team and the broader Talent Support team, ensuring they meet the needs and requirements of the District at large
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university; Master's Degree preferred
  • Six years of full-time, paid, professional experience
  • Full-time experience managing a professional team highly preferred

Additional Job Information: This is a 12-month, non-represented position. The salary grade for the role is 4028. Interviews may be conducted to determine how well a candidate meets the established criteria. Note that not all qualified candidates may be selected for an interview. The selected candidate must have no anecdotal record on file and have not been subject to any disciplinary action within the past eighteen (18) months, and have an excellent record of attendance and punctuality during the last three (3) years (defined as no more than eighteen (18) occasions of lateness or absence for personal illness in the last three years (3) years with the exception of one extended long-term absence.
