QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to articulate a vision, goals, and action plan to achieve improved teaching and learning within the classroom setting that will foster an expectation of professionalism and excellence among faculty and staff
  • Ability to foster positive relationships and collaborate with building and district leaders, faculty, staff, family and community members to cultivate a positive culture and improved student achievement
  • Provide instructional leadership and managerial oversight to all staff members, including certified & non-certified staff, to ensure a climate that fosters the educational development of all students
  • Demonstrate evidence of proficiency in the New York State Standards of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership at the elementary level;
  • Ability to use the evaluative process in a collaborative way in order to identify, design, and provide professional development to faculty and staff in various areas, including but not limited to teaching and learning in all content areas and student management
  • Demonstrate an understanding of child development, classroom management, and instructional techniques within the general education and special education classroom settings at the elementary level
  • Ability to effectively collect, analyze, and use data to improve all aspects of the elementary school
  • Established reputation for ethics and integrity
  • Ability to promote the successful implementation of State and District initiatives
  • Develop and implement efficient and effective plans in the following areas:
    1. school budget and finance
    2. instructional and support staffing
    3. staff development and evaluation
    4. student conduct
    5. extracurricular activities and events
    6. use of technology to improve/support instruction, communications and administration; preparing students for success within the 21 st century environment
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, problem-solving and planning skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the shared decision-making process and experience in school improvement practices
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Administer all policies and procedures of the District
  • Assist in the selection, orientation and training of staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

Additional Job Information: 1. New York State Certification as School Administrator Supervisor (SAS)/School Building Leader (SBL), and/or School District Administrator (SDA)/School District Leader (SDL)

2. Minimum of ten years successful experience in public school setting including teaching and demonstrated leadership experience in building administration and/or supervision at the elementary level. Evidence of instructional leadership is important to this position
