Position Title: Instructional Coach
Reports to: Chief Academic Officer
Terms of Employment: 12 month, salary and benefits established by Civitas Education Partners

Position Summary:
Informed by the school's mission, The Instructional Coach (IC) assumes the educational leadership and supervision for the assigned departments to ensure that students receive high quality instruction and that teachers are supported in the development and implementation of meaningful and challenging college preparatory curricula.

The IC will ensure that the assigned department follows the approved curricula and directives of the school, tracks student progress and achievement at set intervals, develops fully aligned common assessments, builds productive, professional relationships with students, parents, and staff, and supports all school wide initiatives.

The IC also coaches teachers, helping teachers to set professional goals and to devise strategies to meet those goals. In addition, the lead may assist teachers to address challenges with instruction and classroom management, supporting the teacher through co-teaching, providing resources, or facilitating other professional development opportunities.

The IC is responsible to promote the development of productive collaborative teams and to ensure that planning responsibilities among team members are fairly distributed. The team lead is expected to address concerns with collaborative team/department function and structure consistently and effectively.

Achieving academic excellence requires that the IC work collaboratively with the administration to lead and nurture members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents, members of the community, and colleagues in other schools.

Inherent in the position are the responsibilities within the department for planning, coordination, curriculum development, program evaluation, personnel management, financial management, and resource scheduling, staff observations and staff evaluations.

Additional administrative duties are a part of this position.

This position requires work outside of the normal school day, including some weekends.
This position is not part of the Collective Bargaining Unit.

A Bachelor's degree and appropriate certification are required. A Master's degree is preferred. Strength of academic background, experience, interview results, and references will be considered during the selection process. Illinois State Board of Education certification for specified teaching assignment and Highly Qualified Status is strongly preferred.
