SUMMARY
Under general supervision, analyzes the development, maintenance and enhancement of the functional areas of ERP business information warehousing, assuring that ERP systems are configured to meet MPS needs and processes.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides technical support for ERP BW (business warehouse) and ERP BO (business objects) systems and specialized database software applications; identifies, defines and resolves ERP problems.
  • Works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on experience; performs work within scope of authority and training.
  • Analyzes the development, maintenance and enhancement of the functional areas of ERP, assuring that ERP BW and ERP BO systems are configured to meet MPS needs and processes.
  • Develops business intelligence reports that help management and staff to improve performance.
  • Gathers functional requirements; analyzes, converts and documents detailed technical specifications.
  • Designs and develops data models, extraction techniques, transformation rules and programs.
  • Creates and maintains standard and custom InfoObjects, BW ODS Objects, BW Cubes, DataSources, User Exits, and Logical/Process models.
  • Creates and maintains BO Designer Connection and Universe.
  • Schedules ETL (extract, transform, and load) procedures; monitors process, resolves production issues, analyzes error conditions, coordinates error corrections, and makes appropriate program modifications.
  • Integrates with various ERP and non-ERP systems to extract the data to centralized Data Warehouse.
  • Develops queries and creates reports as needed to meet user requirements.
  • Integrates BW and BO with Portal, and creates Xcelsius dashboards and InfoView reports.
  • Trains users on creating and executing reports.
  • Responds to inquiries and provides excellent customer service for ERP issues.
  • Trains users on software applications usage and configuration issues; coordinates cross-training on ERP systems.
  • Maintains and enforces all aspects of system security and confidentiality of records and information; monitors systems and identifies security issues and violations of MPS policies and guidelines.
  • Documents work completed and maintains records; notifies manager and other technicians of unusual problems or problem trends in order to facilitate continued improvement of client services.
  • Identifies technical problems which need to be addressed by improved policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
  • Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science; AND four (4) years of ERP database management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Knowledge of:
  • The structure and operating capabilities of multiple network operating systems.
  • ERP software applications and operating systems used at MPS, including R/3, dynamic web applications, database protocols and internet technical knowledgebase services.
  • Detailed functional designs for business solution components and prototypes.
  • ERP application-specific programming languages, including ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming).
  • ERP Modules such as SRM, HR, CO, FI and MM, BSP, User Exits, BADI, reports and interfaces.
  • Principles and protocols for the management of MPS electronic information.
  • IT access policies, and data security protocols.
  • Principles, tools and techniques for IT project management.
  • ERP ERP systems and report writing query tools.
  • Database protocols and internet technical knowledgebase services.

Skill in:
  • Working independently in a technical environment with interlinked and changing priorities.
  • Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting ERP systems.
  • Designing ERP data warehouse, data modeling, and business intelligence applications.
  • Analyzing problems and recommending effective solutions.
  • Researching, collecting, analyzing, and preparing data and generating reports.
  • Answering questions, advising staff, and resolving problems regarding ERP ERP programs.
  • Responding professionally, effectively and efficiently to customer service requests.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing specialized software, and entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.
