The Director of Strategy and Compliance - Operations leads the work within departments of the Office of the Chief Operating Officer regarding strategy implementation and alignment, performance monitoring and evaluation and management, policy, and effective and efficient operating processes. Serves to connect strategy, goals, and processes to the efficient and effective performance of Operations. Serves as a liaison within Operations and City Schools and with external partners to support a culture of improvement in performance and results in the compliance with Board and governmental mandates and audit and corrective action recommendations.

Essential Functions
  • Aligned with the vision of the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Operations, monitors and evaluates strategic direction and leads assigned teams in developing recommendations for strategic long-term goals to Operations? departments.
  • Plans, directs, monitors and evaluates the implementation of systemic operational initiatives and accountability initiatives in Operation?s departments in collaboration with Executive Directors and Directors with focuses on performance improvement and compliance with audit recommendations, processes and procedures, corrective action plans and governmental mandates.
  • Provides guidance and direction to departments under the Chief Operating Officer with a focus on strategy, performance management and compliance.
  • Fosters and promotes teamwork in the design, development and performance of operational strategies with the Operation?s departments and across City Schools.
  • Develops strategic alliances and works collaboratively with agencies, community members and other stakeholders.
  • Participates in the design of strategic direction and leads assigned teams in developing recommendations for strategic long-term goals related to Operations? departments.
  • Develops project plans, work breakdown structures and schedules required to successfully complete projects on time and within budget constraints.
  • Leads teams in the design, development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of performance improvement plans. Confers with and advises on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods.
  • Provides appropriate supervision, mentoring, and professional growth and development opportunities to assigned staff.
  • Acts as designee for the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Operations as assigned.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.


Maximum Salary 126000.00
Minimum Salary 94500.00
Desired Qualifications
  • Master?s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Construction project management experience preferred.
  • Five years supervisory/administrative/leadership experience in an urban educational system or organization.
  • Through knowledge of performance management and improvement systems.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methods.
  • Considerable knowledge of governmental mandates impacting City Schools? Operations.
  • Interpersonal skills that ensure effective team building and working relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make persuasive presentations.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of technical computer applications.
