The Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

Residency Requirement:
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
The Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Will work collaboratively with the Office of Early Childhood Education management team in creating and implementing strategic vision and goals.
- Will work collaboratively with the Lead Early Childhood Instructional Support Specialist and the Lead Early Childhood Professional Development Specialist in creating and implementing strategic vision and goals.
- Will develop curriculum and instructional framework that aligns with the Illinois State Standards for preschool children.
- Will develop curriculum and instructional annual plan that aligns with local, state and federal regulations.
- Will support the development of Birth to 2 nd grade curriculum and instructional lesson modules that prepares children to be strong readers by 3 rd grade.
- Prepare and monitor for REACH evaluations.
- Will provide vision for support and coaching to teachers and principals on best practices in early childhood education, Birth thru 2 nd grade.
- Will manage classroom observation and student progress data in supervising, planning professional development and support for Early Childhood Specialists.
- Will develop vision for ongoing professional learning series that align with district and community goals.
- Develop and maintain a catalog of professional development opportunities for the OECE.
- Maintain knowledge of best practices in early childhood and professional development.
- Keep current with research in the field of early childhood education and professional learning.
- Responsible for the coordination of all inter-disciplinary instructional planning and development with academic departments and offices across the district ( I.E. Office of Diverse Learners Support and Services, Office of Language and Cultural Education).
- Perform related duties as required.
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Director must possess the following qualifications:
Type of Education Required :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
- Valid Type 75 administrative certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (or out-of-state equivalent) preferred, but not required.
Type of Experience and Number of Years :
- Five or more years of early childhood teaching experiences, CPS experience strongly preferred.
- Successful experience working with adult learners preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Deep knowledge of current trends in adult learning theory, child development and early childhood education.
- Working knowledge of coaching/mentoring models.
- Ability to manage, problem solve, develop and delegate as situations dictate. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Ability to travel to network offices and/or schools to meet the needs of network chiefs and mentor EC specialists.
- Ability to use a range of technology and tools.
- Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and effectively multi-task.
- Strong writing skills including excellent command of English language and grammar.
