School Psychologists at the Oregon Virtual Academy should have a passion to support a world class educational program that meets student's needs. Being a Psychologists at our virtual charter school requires a strong educational background, excellent evaluation skills and a firm commitment to student success. ORVA's Psychologists may reside anywhere in the State with reliable internet, and will be provided all needed equipment, and training.

The ORVA Psychologists serves in a leadership position in support of the Director of Programs. Their primary role is to facilitate student evaluations relating to our special education program. This includes coordination with our STudent Academic Referral Team (START) and the school mental health team. The position supports the entire special programs team and holds direct responsibility

The Psychologists has knowledge and experience in an RtI program, holds current licensure as a school Psychologists, is knowledgeable about recent research in the field, and is student centered. They should exhibit superior organizational and communication skills; be well versed in data and reporting tools; and can provide effective collaborative and open-minded leadership.

Duties are performed in accordance with standards of professional practice, district/State board of education policies and procedures and State law regarding psychology practice. The Psychologists works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of Special Education. The employee's work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations.   • Contact guardian of referred student for discussion of developmental history.
  • Conduct intellectual/cognitive assessments
    • For initial eligibility
    • Change in cognitive symptoms
      • Traumatic brain injury
      • Onset of verbal activity
      • Significant change in behavior
    • Re-eligibility when discussion includes changing from or to an intellectually disabled classification.
  • Conduct Academic Assessments
  • Conduct Behavioral Assessments
  • Conduct Risk Assessments
  • Conduct Case Studies
  • Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team (StART)
  • Provide Psychological counseling for students with this service listed on IEP.
  • Provide progress notes towards student goals based on services provided
  • Write reports of testing conducted
  • Interpret tests conducted by others
  • Consult with parents and ORVA staff
  • Review student files
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues
  • Significant travel within the State of Oregon for evaluation
  • Support school team on SPR&I Compliance
  • Conduct and support staff training and development
    • Prepare training materials and provide training at PD sessions
    • Provide ongoing one on one support to teacher intervention design and tracking
  • Serve on the schools mental health team
    • Support the team's development of schoolwide plans
    • Support students, or groups in need of direct service
    • Train staff related to mental health issues
    • Support schools trauma informed care initiatives
  • . Share facilitation responsibilities of team meetings with Administration
  • Keeps abreast of all changing legislative issues impacting special education eligibility.
  • Provide leadership for the team in support of the Director

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Oregon School Psychologist license with TSPC
  • Master's degree in school psychology from an accredited school of psychology
  • Ability to understand procedures and function in a school system with regard to the special education role in the overall education of the student
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents, district staff, and community members
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing>
    Certificates and Licenses: Current State certification/licensure in school psychology.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Ability to pass required background check
  • Ability to travel throughout the State in order to administer assessments, and outside of the State for professional development

  • Mathematics: Ability to count accurately. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and to record, balance, and check results for accuracy.
