Overview

The network operations associate must be present and engaged Monday through Friday, except holidays, and work occasional evenings on weeknights and occasional weekends, including parent events. This position has a year-round schedule, with time-off for school holidays and vacation.

Responsibilities

The academic operations associate will work under the direction of the network director of operations to support the full network operations team. Additionally, the network operations associate will:

  • Create and process purchase orders daily utilizing the network accounting system (Intacct)
  • Contact vendors via phone, obtain quotes and reconcile discrepancies
  • Track supplies inventory
  • Assist network director of operations with special/time-sensitive projects throughout the year, including but not limited to: summer school and summer institutes
  • Perform additional duties designated by the Network Director of Operations to support the network operations team
  • Occasionally support student recruitment and enrollment events
  • Manage school entity information for city and state agencies
  • Field general Ascend ops related 'help-desk' requests from schools by referencing the operations playbook and conferring with key contacts in various state offices (DOE, OPT, health, food program)
  • Provide data support (CRDC, BEDS, SIRS end-of year, Title 1, etc.)
  • Populate weekly ops digest and dashboard
  • Attend and prepare for off-site centralized professional development sessions
  • Serve as the point person for professional development presenters
  • Create detailed project plans for high leverage network initiatives
  • Lead logistics for director of operations monthly in-person meetings

Staff and reporting relationships


The operations associate reports to the Network Director of Operations and provides support to the full network operations team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Three or more years of experience in an office environment, preferably an education-related organization
  • Experience with data management systems such as Infinite Campus, Illuminate DNA, Automate The Schools (ATS)
  • Passion and commitment to urban education and our ultimate goal of closing the achievement gap
  • Ability to plan, launch and manage complex projects from start to finish
  • Experience managing and manipulating student data; strong working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets
  • A “can do” attitude and the enthusiasm to be a hard-working, team player who is relentless in the pursuit of the network's academic objectives
  • An openness to accept and implement feedback and engage in a process of self-improvement
  • A winning personality and a professional demeanor that conveys warmth, caring, and responsiveness to children, parents, and staff at all times
  • Strong organizational skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks of varying complexity and to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Robust computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office-
  • An ability to independently and effectively problem-solve in deadline-driven environments
