Job Description
Job Goal: To connect instruction and behavioral interventions to ensure engaged learning and to promote a student focused environment that includes academic, social - emotional growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Teaching and/or leadership experience in a school setting, demonstrated use and implementation of successful student behavior management strategies.
Education: Master's degree in education or related field preferred
Licensure: DESE Principal/Assistant Princiapl (8-12) Administrative License REQUIRED
Ability to:
• Build teams to resolve student issues to maintain engagement, stay in school, and graduate
• Promote a pro-social learning environment
• Build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community members
• Establish positive outcomes for students
• Provide leadership for behavior management, supervision, and attendance
• Assist in the establishment of goals and objectives for the school
• Communicate effectively within the school and community
Knowledge:
• Positive behavioral interventions and supports
• Creating and implementing student behavior expectations
• Conflict resolution strategies
• State policy and laws affecting the management of student behaviors

Job Requirements
• Performance responsibilities:
Leadership:
• Maintain a school-wide climate and organization for learning (high expectations, respect, support)
• Manage and enforce consistent and fair behavioral expectations, including attendance
• Chair Student Handbook Committee; develop and publish annual revision
• Lead the documentation of student behavior through the student information system
• Convene counseling and attendance staff meetings, prepare agendas and minutes
• Assist in the development and presentation of parent information and evening programs assigned by the Headmaster
• Demonstrate and promote commitment to the school, students, and families through placement and supervision of internship opportunities for all students
Professional Development:
• Collaborate with other administrators to create a comprehensive professional development program for staff
• Assist staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans
• Collaborate with school staff to establish a system of tiered, research-based behavioral interventions; train staff in those interventions and support consistent implementation
Safe and Respectful Environment for Learning:
• Coordinate the developing and monitoring of student behavior plans
• Communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior
• Plan, promote and oversee the extra curricula clubs, fundraisers and events that engage students into the life of New Bedford High School
• Develop venues for student voices to be heard throughout all student activities
• Lead student and parent meetings regarding student social growth and discipline
• Compile, analyze, and share student discipline data regularly, and use that data to make decisions
• Supervise students before and after school, during passing times and at school events
• Assist in the maintenance of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements
Performs other similar or related duties as required or directed by the Principals.Master degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
