Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking a Percussion Specialist for the 2019-2020 school year.

Description:
The Percussion Specialist is a part-time position that supports our six curricular band classes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Conduct weekly Masterclasses with the percussion students from all six concert bands that includes solo literature, percussion fundamentals, and band, orchestra, percussion ensemble parts.
-Conduct weekly In-Class percussion sectionals with all six concert bands
-Design percussion instrument set-up diagrams/flow-charts as well as mallet/stick/beater selections for every piece for band and orchestra.
-Provide one on one instruction for percussion students.
-Give individual targeted tutoring to individual percussion students throughout the day.
-Coordinate all aspects of the marching percussion and front ensemble
-Teach spring audition workshops and coordinate spring marching percussion auditions.
-Arrange/compose percussion parts to the fall half-time marching band show.
-Arrange technical exercises, cadences and "stand-tunes" for the battery and front ensemble sections.
-Attend all marching band performances (rehearsals, parades, football games, exhibition performances)
-Coordinate/Manage all percussion equipment at Stevenson High School including equipment for band, orchestra, choir, and the PAC.
-Manage and maintain the school's large inventory of percussion equipment housed in the band room, orchestra room, west auditorium green room and PAC.
-Regularly tune and replace drum heads.
-Repair broken instruments and hardware.
-Conduct a full yearly inventory of the schools percussion equipment and mallet/stick collection.
-Create an annual percussion equipment purchase order.
-Attend band concerts to manage percussion equipment (and percussion students) during the event.
-Work with band directors to create and administer percussion assessments and auditions.
-Travel with the band on trips or to area festivals to coordinate all percussion needs.
-Secure (search for) supplemental percussion staff (drum line, front ensemble, percussion ensemble), and guest artists and clinicians.

Qualifications:
Education, Licensure, and Experience (preferred):
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance or Music Education
- Must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)

- Good communication skills
- Ability to set priorities, organize tasks, and work independently
- Ability to work well with teachers, staff, students, parents, and general public
- Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
