S alary: $40,000 Annually

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Operate as a lead teacher for up to 51% of the day, teaching appropriate grade level standards to diverse students, following school-based curriculum expectations. Spend additional time operating as a teacher resident, participating in learning experiences to help growth and development.

This is a one-year, DCTA-classified position with flat salary of $40,000, full benefits and school-based incentives. The year will count as one year toward non-probationary status if teacher receives a rating of "Effective" or higher on the end of year LEAP evaluation. The teacher will be placed on the appropriate step and lane on the salary scale if able to secure a lead teaching position upon completion of the Associate Teacher role.

Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement.

Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior assigned students; and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.

O bserve, evaluate, report and record students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.

I nstruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).

E stablish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.

Prepare, administer, assign and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.

P repare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.

Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems; and coordinate instructional efforts.

P articipate in designated learning experiences designed to support professional growth, including, but not limited to classroom observations, co-teaching, collaborative planning, data analysis, and online coursework.

Operate as a learner committed to increasing effectiveness as an instructional leader in the classroom.

Participate in cohort learning experiences throughout the year.

Partner with mentor and/or instructional coach to ensure professional development throughout the year .

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

Current Colorado Department of Education Teachers License with endorsement in area of placement and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in area of placement OR qualify for Alternative License and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education

Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices including small group instruction.

Ability to work effectively as member of multi-disciplinary team.

Ability to work with diverse student population.

Ability to manage classroom, coordinate and instruct student activities.

Ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral formats.

Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Proficiency with MS Office and other computer software programs.

Education equivalent experience:

Bachelor's Degree Required

At least one of the following endorsements or certifications is required in each subject area for this position:

* Special Education, Specialist ages 5-21 - Endorsement
* Special Education, Generalist ages 5-21 - Endorsement
