    Location: Outdoor Education Center - Dowling, MI

    Compensation: $14/hour for up to 202 days of work per year


    Position Summary

    Manages and maintains financial and business reporting documentation to ensure that all accounting records are recorded correctly and all business reporting is complete, accurate, and submitted on-time. Responsible for accounts payable activity, accounts receivable functions, and various school program office support.

    Responsible for the management of the Camp Health Office and oversees the healthcare and emergency medical needs of campers.

    Essential Job Functions
  • Supports related health service activities, including but not limited to: monitoring health needs of students, medication administration, communicating students" health needs with food services and families.
  • Follows BCPS medication administration policy. Ensures all student medications and health supplies are managed in a secure location.
  • Coordinates compliance activities with state camp license health service requirements including health services policy and BCPS medication administration policy.
  • Manages all written records of all health services provided.
  • Manages financial records which consists of, but not limited to: journal entries, annual budgets, accounts payable and receivable transactions, and investment fund balances.
  • Prepares bank deposits on a weekly basis.
  • Initiates action to prevent [and correct] the occurrence of non-conformities relating to financial records, business reporting, health service records, and related processes.
  • Responsible for processing mail [invoices, payments, adjustments, etc.]
  • Adheres to proper accounting practices, follows guidelines established by the BCPS Business Office, and maintains an effective working relationship with the BCPS Business Office.
  • Manages business and camp reporting and ensures timely and accurate filings.
  • Supports Camp program activities, ensuring complete and accurate information for planned events, e.g., Camp enrollment/confirmations and event readiness, etc.
  • Supports all general office activities; camp inquiries [phone, online], office filing, camp store inventory, mail correspondence, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the business.


  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation. Must be student-service minded.
  • Attention to detail and timelines.
  • Experience with database management and manipulation, including, but not limited to proficiency in multiple technologies and information system application, problem solving, multi-tasking.
  • Proficient with office practices, procedures and equipment and experience using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Google docs and SMART.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently without a lot of instruction.
  • Ability to understand and interpret pertinent policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as a team member.
  • Possess emotional stability and judgement to perform health services under pressure.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in core competencies as outlined in the OEC Personnel section of the Camp Manual, e.g., accountability, teamwork, engagement, work ethic, etc.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information regarding students, administration, and office.


  • Job Qualifications

    Bachelor"s degree in accounting or practical experience and/or related training or experience in the subject area or in an educational environment. Must hold appropriate and current health certification; Wilderness First Responder [WFR] and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, or greater.

    Organizational Relationship

    This position is a key position to the financial operations and health care administration of the Outdoor Education Center
