   License and Certification Qualifications: Current professional HR certification issued by HRCI (PHR or SPHR) or SHRM (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) preferred.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Three years in an office/clerical environment required. Experience in human resources or leave administration preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to exercise independent judgment, troubleshoot, and solve problems; accuracy with computation and employee data; ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively when counseling employees; strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume processing environment; ability to work as part of a team; flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in a positive and professional manner; strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; and knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide assistance in the organization, coordination, and implementation of all leave administration processes, through processing leave information and assisting employees with leave-related issues.

1. Evaluate and counsel employees on leave options and comply with local and federal guidelines including, but not limited to, extended leave of absence, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance, personal disability, serious illness of a family member, Sick Leave Bank, Workers' Compensation, adoption, and military.

2. Process electronic Personnel Action Request (ePAR) forms for leave of absence in the PeopleSoft system and other systems in an accurate and timely manner.
a. Update the PeopleSoft notepad on a continuous basis to ensure employees are paid appropriately while on a leave of absence.
b. Enter and update benefits information for employees on leave in the State Health website.

3. Process leave request forms in a timely and accurate manner.
a. Communicate with employee and principal or program manager on approval or denial of leave.

4. Work with the Human Resources Case Management Coordinator to determine Short-Term Disability eligibility, if applicable.

5. Maintain leave information in the Leave Database in Lotus Notes.
a. Produce the monthly Short-Term Disability payroll.
b. Produce the monthly Board agenda for employees on leave.
c. Attend monthly meetings with the Director of Support Staffing to confirm Board agenda data.

6. Provide communication to employees who are on a leave of absence as to their last payroll check and how to continue benefits via MyPaymentsPlus.

7. Assist with electronic benefit payments for employees on a leave of absence.
a. Maintain number of payments processed and communicate with employees as needed.

8. Assist employees when returning from a leave of absence.
a. Maintain the placement list and update the staffing team accordingly.
b. Assist with special sessions to inform employees of new benefit options if an Open Enrollment was missed.

10. Provide world-class customer service.
a. Counsel employees on all leave related issues.
b. Maintain and manage all incoming communication relating to leave.
c. Research, review, and respond to customer inquires in an accurate and timely manner.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
