POSITION SUMMARY:
The Turnaround Teacher Support Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, support and implementation of the Turnaround initiatives. The coordinator works closely with the Academics and Schools Office to ensure schools are implementing turnaround initiatives of literacy/mathematics specialists and turnaround instructional coaching and their impact on student learning. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Identify, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of effective turnaround models, programs, and interventions to improve reading and mathematics achievement.
  2. Coordinate and facilitate professional learning opportunities for turnaround instructional coaches and literacy/mathematics specialists on implementing the standards-based curriculum, formative assessment process, and data analysis models.
  3. Serve on cross-functional teams for designing and implementing programmatic requirements for turnaround schools in collaboration with the turnaround principals, associate superintendents, and personnel from various divisions.
  4. Assist in the development of innovative solutions to meet the educational challenges and to achieve the best-practice organizational goals of turnaround.
  5. Maintain a current knowledge base in the areas of curriculum and instruction, best practices in education, special education, strategies for school improvement, strategies for closing achievement gaps, effective project management and communication strategies, all applicable federal and state regulations, and all local district policies and procedures.
  6. Assist, coordinate, support, and assess the effectiveness of the turnaround initiatives and their impact on student learning.
  7. Prepare data analysis for each turnaround school on a regular basis to inform the support and accountability efforts of the turnaround initiatives.
  8. Coordinate the fiscal accounts, pertinent inventories, budgeting, and other fiduciary responsibilities to ensure resources are used to enhance turnaround initiatives.
  9. Provide regular initiative updates.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate personnel.


Requirements: EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor?s degree required; Master?s degree preferred.
CERTIFICATION:
  • Georgia PSC teaching certificate required; valid Georgia driver?s license is required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership capacity in a K-5 school environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within established deadlines.
  • Ability to promote collaborative planning as a component of school turnaround.
  • Knowledge of researched best-practices, instructional coaching, and school turnaround.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the formal and informal educational realms of literacy and/or mathematics.
  • Knowledge in determining program evaluation criteria and implementing ongoing program evaluation.
