    8 hours per day, 185 days + 10 additional days per year

    SUMMARY : The Future Center elementary and middle school counselor reports directly to the Director of Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness and is part of the Future Center staff supporting Westminster Public Schools. Members of this team have the ability to help students see how academic preparation is key to their options after high school. This counselor works with students and families in middle schools and K-8 schools to ensure the students are on track to graduate, have a future plan for the day after graduation, demonstrate level appropriate social and emotional learning, engage in student agency in their personal preparation for graduation by remaining on grade level, successfully creating their ICAP, performing personalized job searches and attending other events, programs, internships or job shadows necessary in order to take advantage of every resource provided to them as a student of the district. This counselor will engage in one-on-one and group counseling, deliver ICAP in-class instruction and participate in program and event planning in support of the personal interests and preparation of our students. The Future Center team helps engage internal and external partners in improving high school completion, drop-out prevention, student retention and student and family support. This person will work with the core district counselors to use all resources, employer connections, college professionals and building administration support to re-engage and/or accelerate students in their learning and postsecondary preparation. This person will also help coordinate existing, identifying, and implementing new programs, policies and professional development that will result in improved student retention and performance in high school. The Future Center counselor performs outreach to students and families, aligns resources and supports for students enrolled in both high schools. This person will work with a Middle School Future Center Counselor to develop better transition of our students from middle school through postsecondary life.

    As part of the Future Center staff, this person will conduct parental outreach in support of student academic and career development and will work with parents and students in support of ICAP development.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
    *Licensed School Counselor
    *Bi-lingual English/Spanish desired
    *Be up to date on current learning theory and state of the art pedagogy in teaching
    *Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
    *Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
    *Has knowledge and experience of and/or willingness to gain knowledge of Competency-based education approaches
    *Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff members, parents and administrators

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
    *Improve PWR measures of drop-out rate, on-time attendance, on grade level academic performance, ICAP completion and demonstration of workplace competentices
    *Integrate external and internal resources toward student achievement and re-engagement
    *Assist in the implementation of ICAP
    *Coordinate efforts with core counselors and other Future Center counselors and staff to address successful student transitions between grades and into postsecondary life
    *Perform outreach to families on behalf of students
    *Help promote postsecondary awareness and planning by all students
    *Secure resources and help students take advantage of those appropriate to their needs
    *Serve as a liaison to relevant community partners and businesses.
    *Willingness to travel between schools to offer instructional support that is consistent between and with other like level students
    *Perform other duties as assigned.
