    SUMMARY : The Metropolitan Arts Academy is a PK- 6 arts magnet school designed to promote student learning in all content areas by integrating an arts perspective and methodology in teaching and learning. The academy also fosters arts exploration for all students and advanced arts study for those who exhibit the aptitude and passion for more in-depth artistic pursuits. The academy will build out to a PK-8 school in the next three years. Primary students will receive the fundamentals of music with an emphasis on classical training, in order to prepare them to self-select into the more comprehensive music classes at the intermediate and middle school levels. The academy will be applying for innovation status with Westminster Public Schools and the Colorado Department of Education.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
    *For all Instructional Assistant applicants, you must possess an Associate Degree, two years of college (48 credits) or have passed the Paraprofessional PRAXIS Test prior to start
    *Must complete and pass various pre-placement background screenings
    *English language skills and Interpersonal relations skills
    *Bilingual desired
    *Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
    *Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
    *Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and building and department procedures
    *Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
    *Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
    *Collaborates and communicates with parents, students, and faculty
    *Supports and assists Title I Teacher in preparation for classroom activities
    *Supports teacher in the delivery of the instructional program
    *Participates in opportunities to develop knowledge and skills that support assignments
    *Maintains all necessary documents within areas of responsibility
    *Work with small groups of students throughout the day focusing on literacy skills
    *Work with a team of professionals meeting the diverse needs of Kindergarten - 5th grade students
    *Performs all other duties as assigned
