Job Title: Early Childhood Teacher

Department: Department of Extended Learning & Community Schools

Location: Stephen Knight CEE

FTE: Part-time

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Hourly Rate: $16.25

Essential Functions & Objectives: Responsible for creating, implementing and fostering a positive, nurturing and organized environment leading to best growth and development of children, including but not limiting to;

-Attend required orientations, trainings, and staff meetings
- Implement high quality preschool programming where students are engaged in a variety of ways
- Maintain open communication with staff, parents, and foster a positive environment for children
- Use positive development strategies
- Interpret and deliver curriculum for children in an enriching and engaging manner
- Directly supervise play areas, create and implement activities, maintain logs and reports, housekeeping, and additional duties as assigned
- Interpret the philosophy of Denver Public Schools and building community with faculty, staff, parents, visitors, and community
- Ensure that Colorado Department of Human Services child care, District and Department policies and procedures are followed
- Provide accurate and timely information on program operation as requested
- Be proactive and knowledgeable at interpreting and implementing CDHS (Colorado Department of Human Services) and Department policies
- Assist in trainings for new staff members
- Be familiar and able to maintain PDIS (Early Childhood Professional Development Information System) records and Colorado Shines guidelines

Licensure & Certification:
- Early Childhood Teacher qualified per the Colorado Department of Human Services required

Education & Experience:
- Must be able to become First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and Medication Administration certified

Must have one of the following required for the Early Childhood Teacher Qualified Certification:

- Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education
- Associates Degree Elementary education or, Early childhood education, special education, family and child development, child psychology plus ECE 101 and ECE 103 plus verification of 910 hours experience working with children
- Bachelor Degree in any content plus ECE 101 and ECE 103 plus verification of 910 hours experience working with children
- 12 semester hours in ECE classes, must include ECE 101 and ECE 103 plus 1,295 hours verification of experience working with children
- Completion of a vocational, occupational or course approved training by CDHS, must include transcripts and verification of 1,820 hours of experience working with children
- Two ECE courses; ECE 101 and ECE 103 plus verification of 3,640 hours working with children and a current level I credential.
