The Academic Administrator/K-8 Principal directs and coordinates educational, administrative and counseling activities of students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors

AS AN ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATOR/PRINCIPAL K-8 , YOU WILL ENJOY...

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
  • Serves as the instructional leader for grades K-8 responsible for student achievement and teacher evaluation;
  • Ensures conformance of educational programs to State and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities; As needed, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet State standards;
  • Manages teaching staff; Manages Academic Support and Academic Coaches
  • Helps articulate the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
  • Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school; Coordinates with teacher and local enrollment team regarding expulsions and withdrawals;
  • Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of all students while complying with local, State , and federal laws regarding special education;
  • Develops and oversees implementation of the school's School Improvement Plan
  • Monitors fidelity to the academic plans aligned with State standards to ensure student engagement and achievement;
  • Monitors student data by teacher to ensure that students are meeting academic goals; coaching and developing teachers to build strong instructional practices;
  • Possesses a keen understanding of State wide data in order to build meaningful strategic plans to improve student outcomes;
  • Possesses strong knowledge of WI Core standards, Common Core State Standards, and the Wisconsin Department of Education resources.
    Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises teachers and counselors. Collaborates with Special Programs Manager and Family Academic Support Team. Administrator to ensure cross team collaboration. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning. Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree AND
  • Five (5) years of educational experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Valid State principal's certificate.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.); Web proficiency
  • Ability to pass required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as an on-line educator
  • Experience as instructional leader

  • This is primarily a home-based position, but the principal is expected to attend all scheduled events including but not limited to in person team meetings, planning meetings, professional development, student outings and State testing related events
  • Ability to travel In WI 10% of the time, some overnights required
  • Ability to travel out of State on occasion for conferences and/or planning summits
