BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED preferred; one year of experience in a Custodial Manager I position or related work; or any combination of experience and training that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: Thorough knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures. Ability to organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinate employees. Ability to perform the tasks of all subordinates. Ability to prepare and maintain necessary records and reports. Ability to use personal computer, for communications, supply orders, and work orders Ability to skillfully operate all custodial equipment assigned. Ability to work well with others. Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations applicable to the work which is assigned.

The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

This is a supervisory position in the care and cleaning of school buildings and grounds. Work involves supervising all custodial and cleaning operations and record keeping, ordering supplies, and preparing work orders. The position is assigned to the night shift in order to supervise some subordinate workers and be responsible for securing the building. This position assumes temporary responsibility of a large facility in the absence of a Custodial Manager III. Work is performed with latitude for independent judgment and action. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work schedule:

June-August: 7 am - 3 pm

August - June: 2 pm - 10 pm

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

Include, but are not limited to, the following. Inspects school buildings to ensure that they are adequately cleaned. Trains and instructs custodial workers in the proper use and operation of equipment, materials, and techniques in the custodial field. Evaluates the performance of custodial personnel. Develops summer cleaning schedules for refurbishing school buildings. Acts as a receiving agent after normal school hours. Evaluates and assists in the selection of new cleaning products, equipment, and materials. Ensures that ample cleaning supplies are available to custodial crews. Maintains custodial reports, time records, inventories, and ledgers. Secures or locks schools buildings and equipment. Changes, repairs, or replaces all school combination locks. Activates safety alarm for fire drill exercises. Raises and lowers flags. Removes ice and snow from walkways, entranceways, and steps. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Hiring Range: $35,549 - $50,095/year ($18.96 - $26.72/hour)

DAYS: 250
