SUMMARY:
The Director of Family and Community Partnerships will develop, plan, lead and direct district-level strategies and staff in the areas of family engagement and community partnerships, translations/interpretations, attendance strategies/truancy. This position will manage and supervise the Family Center.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center in Washington State. In 2013, parents, students, community members, and staff at all levels of the district came together to develop a strategic plan that reflects our goals and dreams for our students. The plan was updated in 2018 to guide our work through 2023. The plan's promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose. The strategic plan is centered on Our Promise. It includes five big goals for Highline students, supported by Our Foundation. * Equity. We will disrupt institutional biases and end inequitable practices so all students have an equal chance at success. * Instruction. We will reduce achievement and opportunity gaps by using culturally responsive, inclusive, standards-based instruction. * Relationships. We will know our students by name, strength and need and have open, two-way communication with students, families and community partners. * Support. We will increase student success by supporting their social-emotional and academic needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and management of the district's Family Engagement functional areas-such as proactive family engagement programs, family concern protocols, translation and interpretation support services, supervision, evaluation and management of the Family Center staff and other related family support programs. * Collaborate with district and school staff to link family engagement with academic goals; establish/evaluate/refine family engagement programs and activities developed as a result of gap goals; increase the capacity of each school to provide opportunities, services and support to promote positive family engagement that leads to increased student achievement. * Serves as an advisor to school staff, administration, and families on matters of family engagement. * Establish and grow partnerships and engagement within the district with families, school sites, and community based organizations (CBO) in support of student achievement. * Develop and implement programs that develop family leadership and help families gain an understanding of school systems and their role as families in supporting their children's education. * Support the implementation of community schools programs that provide academic support, enrichment, and support services to students and their families.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
DIRECTOR OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS * Facilitate effective communication strategies with non-English-speaking families regarding school and district issues and student progress. * Support school-based attendance leads with professional learning opportunities around best practice, attendance strategies; develop, lead and facilitate the Community Truancy Board, direct and support the district truancy officer. * Participate, manage, and lead community school-district collaborative work, teams, task forces, and other projects. * Prepare program reports, applications, and grants related to family and community partnerships. * Assist Principals in hiring relevant staff related to bi-lingual para-educators and family support staff. * Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
: Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree with five years' experience with family and community engagement strategies and practices or Associate's Degree with ten years of experience with family and community engagement strategies and practices Three years' experience working with underrepresented families to improve student achievement and/or success



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
:
Master's Degree Experience in leading equity, diversity and inclusion, and/or anti-racist work in large organization. Bilingual skills

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

Issues and effective business/industry practices in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion, cultural competency, cultural awareness, cross-cultural communication, and organizational change management.
