Overview: The Department of Talent Development at Cincinnati Public Schools seeks a Career Growth Specialist to join our growing team. The Career Growth Specialist will report to the Leadership Manager and will support our work to professionally grow grow all employees as well as develop leaders within the organization. The Career Growth Specialist will:

Core responsibilities:
  • Leadership Development
    • Maintain updated publications of leadership competencies that serve as the CPS standard for each leadership position in coordination with the Leadership Manager and Employee Experience Managers.
    • Maintain updated publications and communications regarding leadership pathway professional learning opportunities.
    • Collect and analyze from various assessments to identify needs for leadership training and support.
  • Career Pathway Development and Succession Planning
    • Maintain records and track usage of career pathways for each role outlined in the various bargaining units and contracts in Cincinnati Public Schools.
    • Support the facilitation of programming associated with succession planning and career pathways that deepens the bench of leadership talent.
    • Develop and implement tools to assist employee career advancement.
    • Develop and maintain a system for organizing succession planning documentation.
    • Liaise with Human Resources to support succession of employees.
  • Training and Development
    • Monitor the facilitation and participation of training connected to career pathway support.
    • Analyze professional development survey results and make recommendations to the Professional Learning Manager and Leadership Manager.
    • Support the Leadership Manager in meeting the training needs of divisions and departments.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or higher
  • Experience with advancement along a career pathway
  • Excellent written, oral and positive influential interpersonal skills required; ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical terms
  • Must be an independent thinker
  • Possesses strong organizational skills
  • Customer focused: makes participant satisfaction a top priority
  • Demonstrated project management experience: can stay on top of multiple projects, plan backwards and anticipate obstacles, pursue goals with energy, and identify and involve stakeholders appropriately
  • Experience with facilitating and designing learning experiences for adult learners
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work on time and on budget, taking into consideration how actions impact the broader organization
  • Adapts approach and style to be inclusive of the values and beliefs of others
  • Track-record of developing trusting, respectful relationships
  • Proactively seeks and acts on feedback
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
