Position: School Counselor
Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support academic development by teaching, implementing and supporting strategies to maximize learning
- Support social emotional development and assists by teaching, implementing and supporting strategies to create a safe learning environment
- Assist, counsel and. support students who are having attendance problems, struggle with the academic setting, struggle with managing behaviors, or have adjustment difficulties
- Deliver large and small group lessons on social and emotional topics
- Facilitate social skill development groups; individual or group counseling
- Support the implementation of trauma-informed best practices
- Assist with delivery of group and individual counseling related to student IEP goals
- Participate in and facilitates child study/intervention processes in conjunction with learning services specialist and other team members
- Refer students as needed to relevant programs, specialists and community agencies
- Collaborate and consult with administrators, parents, staff and community partners
- Encourage parent involvement
- Take an active role in interpreting the school's objective to students, parents and community
- Assist, counsel and support students in planning and decision-making skills
- Assist, counsel and support students in developing college and career awareness and readiness
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff and administration
- Assist students in long range planning
- Perform related tasks that may be assigned by the Building Principal or his/her designee
