PURPOSE OF JOB: To implement strategies and programs that prepare KCPS students for post-secondary opportunities including career and/or college. Chief among the responsibilities is to coordinate a 21st century Career Education Center (Manual Tech), in coordination with MCC and other business partners that allows students to explore pathways of their choice, leading them to multiple options (Industry Credential, Associate's, or Bachelor's) post-graduate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Increase college and career options for the student by implementing key strategies that align with Mo DESE
Coordinate all activities re: KCPS partnership with MCC and represent KCPS at all meetings re: partnership
Collaborate with school leadership to ensure implementation of strategic plan in all CTE areas.
Partner with CIPD to align community college and university courses with current KCPS offerings to ensure that students receive adequate credit
Provide essential information to all stakeholders
Act as visionary in creating a metroplex career center at Manual Career and Technical Center and maintains consistent communication with the Deputy Superintendent
Case manage the CTE dual credit programs. Work with district staff and students to identify and coordinate opportunities for students
Act as point of contact for all CTE dual credit partnerships and ensure that courses align with Mo DESE requirements for student credit
Collaborate with K-12 staff and community college and university professionals to develop and maintain high school career pathway and enrollment academies throughout KCPS.
Oversee marketing and awareness campaign in partnership with other KCPS departments for CTE/ Dual Credit Program
Oversee all activities with the Career and Tech Ed Department re: curriculum development, course alignment alongside the Director of CTE
Coordinate efforts with schools and community college to allow students to be administered ACCUPLACER
Maintain a working relationship with postsecondary institutions
Supervises Director of CTE
Works collaboratively with Director to create fiscal balancing of various CTE budgets
Keeps abreast of current research trends, methods, and practices in CTE education through regularly participating in state and national PD opportunities
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years' experience managing personnel in academic school setting or school district.
Bachelor's, Master's Degree Preferred.
Strong familiarity with CTE pathways
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of CTE Dual Credit and alignment of CTE district courses.
