  • QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of and willingness to stay abreast of trends, innovations, and practices related to safety, environmental, and loss control concepts; knowledge of business practices applicable to safety management; knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements; knowledge of automated data management, storage and retrieval systems and other business/safety related equipment.

    Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; work harmoniously with staff and administrators, both as a leader and group member; develop, administer, and take responsibility for a continuous cycle of safety improvement; practice excellent time-management skills with minimal supervision.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Develop workplace safety policies for submittal to the District Board; ensure that policies are administered equitably; develop, plan, direct, and coordinate training curriculum relating to various workplace safety issues; conduct worker safety training for school district employees and administrators as appropriate; assemble and analyze all safety data into comprehensible reports; present safety reports, historic safety data and safety trends to senior management; investigate and perform root-cause analyses on all District claims and injuries; record, maintain, and report all OSHA 300 and 301 logs per OSHA regulations; develop and maintain a working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety practices to determine applicability to site operations; assist the District with compliance of newly enacted regulations; generate, organize, and interpret confidential data pertaining to workers' compensation and loss analysis; conduct job hazard analysis in coordination with site supervisors; respond to various ergonomic related issues including the identification of risk factors associated with a wide range of job tasks/positions; perform and record workstation ergonomic evaluations; regularly attend pre-shift meetings at various sites and with various departments to address safety concerns; act as liaison between District office and sites; communicate and work directly with adjusters and examiners and medical network providers.

    EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred or any combination equivalent to sufficient experience, training, and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

    A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK AND A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

    DUTIES OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Director of Risk Management, is responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of workplace safety programs for all Kern High School District work sites.

    STARTING SALARY: $7,905.00 (monthly)

    NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)

    NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
