PROGRAM HISTORY
The Office of Human Capital's Diversity Programs' mission is to cultivate and preserve the district's diverse and talented workforce. The two strategies that are implemented are workforce pipeline development (internal and external) and workforce retention.

One workforce to pipeline development program is the Boston Public Schools (BPS) High School to Teacher Program. This program develops strategic partnerships to identify, cultivate, and support high school students. These high school students reflect the cultural, linguistic, and racial diversity of BPS, and with the support of HSTT will successfully navigate high school, graduate from college and return to BPS as passionate, qualified teachers.

PROGRAM
BPS HSTT is a prestigious program, where students are recognized as Scholars. This program supports students (9th-12th grade) through their high school career, and provides an alumni support network while they are in college. Scholars are prepared to become future educators by engaging in: bi-weekly meetings with a curriculum focused on teacher education, college access, leadership, and professional development. Scholars also receive mentorship from current BPS Educators who are passionate about developing the next generation of teachers.

The BPS HSTT program has college and university partners that provide a college education at an affordable rate.
The Urban College of Boston has partnered with the BPS HSTT program to offer Scholars Dual Enrollment courses during their high school career. The courses provided are in Early Childhood Education and General Studies, allowing Scholars to receive up to 24 college credits. This opportunity places students on the fast track to graduating college early with their education degree.
